Even online school is almost ending. It is not really a time to celebrate, but it surely is a time to count our blessings: our team, our mentor, our coaches and of course Robbie the Robosaurus who helped us win the Champion’s Award at the Mineola Qualifier, together with the Alliance game and tied for the best Robot Performance Award. That was our first qualifier run:
Thanks to the team’s love for robots and Robbie’s best behavior we advanced to the Regional Championships where we won the second place for the robot performance and won the Mechanical Design and Performance Awards. One week after, the entire FIRST season was canceled. As NY faced the highest number of infections and deaths, our mentors Anne-Sarah N. and Marc N. fought the out-of-control coronavirus through 3D modeling and 3D printing making almost 500 3D printed face-shields. We all helped distribute the shields. It was just a drop in the ocean of need, but we will continue to do it as long as needed.
